31 December 2015
This has been a wonderful, terrifying, inspirational year. Thanks to our amazing supporters, we helped more than five million people in 2015. Take a minute to watch this short review of the year, to see how you’ve helped the world’s poorest women and girls. Warning: contains cute children!
You were with us in Nepal after the devastating earthquakes, helping us deliver emergency supplies, and in the months that followed, giving thousands of families the tools they neeeded to rebuild their homes and their lives.
Thanks to your support, we have been working in Greece with refugees fleeing the horrors of war, setting up clean, safe spaces where mums can nurse their children in privacy.
You supported our work in Kenya, enabling us to provide lifelines for girls like Damaris, facing the horror of female genital mutilation. You helped free an innocent woman in Egypt, campaigned for a UN goal on ending violence against women, and celebrated with us when Ebola was finally wiped out from Sierra Leone and Liberia.
Hundreds of you marched alongside us in London this November in solidarity with children in Bangladesh whose futures are being washed away by climate change. Many more of you added your voices to those worst hit and least to blame for climate change, making sure that they were heard at the COP21 climate talks in Paris.
To round off the year, you have responded incredibly generously to our appeal to keep homeless children around the world safe and warm this winter.
ActionAid in 2016
In 2016 we will continue to help women and girls overcome poverty. We will stand with them against violence, against hunger, against barriers to education and we will support them wherever disaster strikes. We hope you will be there with us.
