ActionAid's response to the Gaza crisis

ActionAid’s local staff and partners are on the ground in Gaza City and Khan Younis.

With vital services shut, ActionAid will be providing essential supplies to families including blankets, mattresses, cooking gas, hygiene kits, and nappies for babies.

Women and girls are at the forefront of our response.

  • We are planning to reach 1,660 displaced families, that is 7,248 people.
  • We aim to purchase medicine for those in urgent need.
  • We also intend to provide fuel for generators and mobile clinics.
  • We are reaching out to women and children living in shelters in Gaza City and Khan Younis who need psychological support.

Why we need your help

The recent conflict in Gaza and East Jerusalem spiralled quickly after rising tensions in the region.

Approximately two million Palestinians are living in the Gaza strip and there are 19 refugee camps in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

The attacks damaged homes and essential infrastructure, with electricity only available for 3-4 hours each day in the immediate aftermath of the bombing. 230,000 people in the towns of Gaza and Khan Younis had very limited access to drinking water.

Samah Kassab, a senior programme officer at ActionAid Palestine, said:

The situation is very difficult and terrifying. This is the worst violence that people have experienced for years.

Raids have hit more than 500 housing blocks.

This destruction displaced thousands of families who are already struggling under the dire economic conditions caused by the 15-year blockade.”
