How to support ActionAid
Why we need your help
The ongoing drought in Somaliland is causing widespread hunger and children are at risk of starvation in the region.
Most nights, Malyuun has to listen to her three-year-old baby Nimo and her other children cry themselves to sleep from hunger.
One night, when the children were very hungry and unable to sleep, the mother-of-eight broke down in tears too.
Malyuun, has lost 15 sheep during the drought. She now has five sheep and two cows left. The cows are a lifeline because they provide her with milk, but she is worried that they too will die as the drought continues.
We need your help to prevent starvation and malnutrition in Somaliland. ActionAid is working directly with women and girls in Somaliland by providing cash to families, survival kits with underwear, torches and batteries to women and girls and setting up safe spaces for women to meet and identify their needs.
Climate change is causing extreme weather conditions in the global south such as prolonged droughts in Africa and floods in Bangladesh.
These crises threaten and claim young lives everyday – and no-one’s talking about them.
But we are. And you can help by donating on Giving Tuesday this December.
