ActionAid Uganda has been the subject of media criticism for an aspect of their campaign on genetically modified foods in which they suggested a link between GM and health problems including cancer and infertility.

ActionAid Uganda fully acknowledge that this was a mistake. Once ActionAid Uganda became aware of the issue earlier this year they immediately stopped their work in this area and withdrew all health-related messaging.

This was not an ActionAid-wide campaign but was instead restricted to one of the 45 countries where we work. ActionAid’s policy is not to campaign on any health concerns over GM food.

ActionAid and ActionAid Uganda remain sorry for any past suggestion we have made of a link between GM food and health concerns.
