Commenting on the coming rainy season in Bangladesh, Farah Kabir, Country Director at ActionAid Bangladesh, said:

“The safety of the Rohingya refugees in the camps – particularly women and girls – is extremely fragile. They have been through a terrible ordeal to get here and now the monsoons threaten to deal a fatal blow, by damaging shelters and spreading disease.

“The international community and Bangladesh must help prevent a disaster, for the refugees and for the poorest people elsewhere in the country.”

1. ActionAid is an international charity working with women and girls in 45 countries around the world.

2. ActionAid is working closely with Rohingya women and girls in the refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar. Ahead of the monsoon and cyclone seasons, we are strengthening shelters and women’s safe spaces, helping families move to safer accommodation, and training a network of volunteers in disaster preparedness.
