ActionAid UK is looking for a dynamic and motivated Advocacy Officer to join our Advocacy & Influencing team. This role offers the chance to support ActionAid’s bold mission to end violence against women and girls, promote economic rights, and ensure women’s voices are heard on the global stage. This is an exciting externally facing role, requiring frequent travel to the ActionAid UK office in London and/or Parliament sometimes required at short notice.
Working closely with a passionate team, the Advocacy Officer plays a vital part in helping ActionAid UK influence political and institutional stakeholders. You will be at the heart of our advocacy efforts—monitoring political developments, preparing briefings, coordinating meetings and events, and ensuring our engagement with government and parliamentary stakeholders is impactful and strategic. Within this role you’ll utilise your excellent knowledge of the UK political context and system, Commitment to AA’s vision, mission and values, including a commitment to feminist and anti-racist principles and working in an anti-racist organisation committed to working for the rights of women and girls to support AAUK’s Advocacy efforts. This is a highly collaborative role, involving coordination across departments and engagement with international colleagues, NGOs, and policy networks requiring experience and expertise in using Outlook calendar and email, including diary management, coordinating meetings and making travel arrangements as well as Advanced IT skills, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and use of databases. You’ll contribute to shaping how we present our policy priorities, manage our external relationships, and build alliances to support women’s rights worldwide.
In addition to supporting the operational work of the Advocacy Team, you’ll take an active role in our anti-racism and decolonisation efforts. This includes helping to embed these principles into our strategy, ways of working, and partnerships.
We’re looking for someone with strong organisational and communication skills, excellent political awareness, and a commitment to feminist values and social justice. Experience working with parliamentary stakeholders, managing stakeholder tools, or organising high-profile events would be an advantage, as would a background in international development or women’s rights.
Experience of supporting colleagues to manage budgets, expenses and financial reconciliation and Proficiency in setting up videoconferencing will be required.

ActionAid UK has a hybrid working policy for many of our roles. The requirement will vary from team to team and the responsibilities of individual roles. As a minimum, all colleagues are expected to attend the office 12 days per year, plus additional time for induction, training, and company connection days. Some roles may require in-office attendance on all days and if so, these will clearly be marked as in-office roles.
