When disaster strikes, ActionAid does things differently. We work directly with local women and girls to provide support and save lives. Meet just some of the incredible women ActionAid works with in humanitarian emergencies around the world, and find out how they get supplies and information quickly and fairly to those who need it most.

Over 1.4 million refugees from Syria are in desperate need of warm clothing and shoes, as the worst  snow storm in decades hits large parts of the Middle East, including Lebanon and Jordan.

UK Foreign Secretary William Hague says Syria is: "the worst human tragedy of our times and on a trajectory to get worse."

With G8 leaders debating whether to arm Syria’s rebel forces, the public is sceptical and leading commentators such as Patrick Cockburn in the Independent analyse previous conflicts to validate their views. I decided to speak with Ahmed Al Damrawi, ActionAid’s regional director for the Arab region who is based in Amman, Jordan to ask for his opinion.
