Whether you’d like to meet with a solicitor face to face, or would prefer the convenience of writing your Will online, our partners can help you make a plan that provides for your family, friends and favourite charities.   

Whichever option you choose, please rest assured there’s no obligation to remember ActionAid in your Will. All we ask is that, after taking care of your loved ones, you take a moment to consider leaving a gift as a way of standing with future generations of women and girls as they strive to change the world.

If you’d like to meet with a Solicitor

We’re proud to be part of the National Free Wills Network, a longstanding and nationwide scheme that enables charity supporters to write a simple Will for free using a specialist local solicitor. Comprising more than 1,000 participating firms, this service is available all year round and throughout the UK.

Access to the Network is only available by referral. With your permission, we will pass on your name and postal address so the Network team can supply a list of the firms closest to you. You then select a firm and book an appointment with your chosen solicitor. ActionAid will pay the solicitor an agreed and discounted price on your behalf for a simple Will.

If you’d like to write your Will online

Octopus Legacy provides an easy and accessible online Will-writing service that’s available all year round and from the comfort of your own home.

Simply answer a series of questions on the Octopus Legacy website, and the information you provide will be used to create a draft Will. The Octopus team will check all the details and email you your Will to print out at home.  

The online service is available in England and Wales, with ActionAid paying a membership fee so that you can write a simple Will for free.

Abebech has been helped by ActionAid’s Combating Modern Slavery project in Ethiopia.

The project equips the victims of modern slavery, vulnerable women and returning migrants with life skills and business training. Abebech also received seed money of 8,000 Birr (roughly £39) to help her start a business. Now she’s growing plants and raising chickens to earn a living. 

“I was so grateful to receive the training”, Abebech told us.  “More than the seed money I received, I am so thankful for the knowledge I gained. Knowledge about starting a business, growing a business, saving, and spending… all these things helped me so much in what I do. I’m just so thankful”.
