Mike Noyes, head of humanitarian response, ActionAid UK, said:
“ActionAid condemns today the horrific armed attack on the offices of Save the Children in the eastern city of Jalalabad, Afghanistan. We are devastated to learn that two people have been killed and several injured in this ongoing attack. Our thoughts are with them.
“Attacks of this kind on aid workers and organisations are intended to intimidate those driven to help the poorest and most disenfranchised. But the humanitarian community stands strong in the face of brutality and will not be deterred from this mission.”
